Volunteer

WOULD YOU LIKE TO PARTICIPATE?

There are many opportunities to be involved at Loyola Park. We always need volunteers to help with park stewardship and beach clean-up, and to help plan the Artists of the Wall festival and our many other events. We appreciate all kinds of volunteers: from donating a few hours of your time, or helping with a one day event, all the way to serving as a council member. Plus it’s a great way to meet nice neighbors and make new friends!

LOYOLA DUNES RESTORATION

Since 2003, part of the Rogers Park, Chicago lakefront has been protected from mechanical beach cleaning by large machines. This has allowed the gradual restoration of a native wilderness area in the city. The dunes have slowly reformed and are now about six feet above the surrounding manicured beach. One by one, native plant species are returning and are protected against being choked out by aggressive weed species until they are strong enough to survive on their own.

ARTISTS OF THE WALL FESTIVAL

The Artists of the Wall Festival brings together friends and neighbors of all ages to collaborate on a 600′-long, 5,000 square foot lakefront mural at Loyola Park Beach in Rogers Park. It has been an annual event on every Father’s Day weekend since 1993.
